Clyde 1 announces opening of latest Cash for Kids Sports Challenge

Applications are open for the charity fundraising challenge supporting grassroots sports in Glasgow and the West

It’s already been an incredible summer of sport with Scotland heading to Germany for the Euros and the Paris Olympics just round the corner.

Hoping to inspire the next generation to sporting success the Cash for Kids Sports Challenge is back for 2024. This unique fundraising competition aims to improve access and provide opportunities for disadvantaged children and young people struggling to access sporting groups. Entries are open now until midnight on Monday 2nd September and you can enter at WIN a share of £10,000 funding for your sports group! | Events – Clyde 1 (hellorayo.co.uk)

Cash for Kids Sports Challenge asks local grassroots sporting groups to fundraise as much as possible during a set time – this year it runs from 7th September to 7th October. Not only do the groups get access to the charity’s brilliant network of fundraisers for tips and help they all keep 100% of the cash they raised AND have the opportunity to win additional funding from Cash for Kids!

The three top fundraising groups each receive an extra £5,000, £2,500 or £1,500 to add to their total. There are also two special awards – both worth £500 each – for the best use of teamwork and a Sport Challenge Champion who has gone above and beyond in their fundraising efforts.

Funds raised will be used for a variety of reasons including subsidised membership fees for families who can’t afford to send their children to clubs or helping with clothing or kit for those struggling in the midst of the cost-of-living crisis. Money will also be used to improve facilities or make adaptations where necessary so that children and young people with additional needs can take part in their chosen sport.

Last year, the winning group was Dynamite Gymnastics Club who raised an incredible £16,240.94. With the £5,000 top up prize, the group were granted £21,240.94 by Cash for Kids. ” The cash for kids sport’s  challenge  was great fun to take part in and really helped our club focus our fundraising efforts.  The money raised and prize recieved  has helped  our club greatly  allowing us to purchase new equipment  and move foward our long term plans to improve and grow our facility.”
