A Different Quiet

22 November @ 10:00 am - 27 November @ 5:00 pm
Free

I wanted to share details of a new exhibition from acclaimed Glasgow-based composer Kenny Inglis, who is presenting his debut photographic exhibition, A Different Quiet, under his visual pseudonym Hearing With My Eyes.

Opening November 22nd, 2025, at Edelweiss Gallery (16 Eastvale Place, Glasgow), A Different Quiet explores photography as a form of ambiguity — an invitation for the viewer to find their own story within each image.

Rather than capturing fixed moments, the photographs suggest what may or may not exist just outside the frame — before or after the shutter clicks. As with Inglis’s music, meaning isn’t imposed but implied, encouraging interpretation rather than offering answers. This is not a departure from his musical work, but a parallel language born from the same sensory experience.

“I don’t see a separation between my music and my photography —
both are just translations of the same inner world,” says Inglis.
“Sound has always created imagery in my head, and images have always
created sound. Hearing With My Eyes is simply what happens when I
express myself with a camera, instead of with a piano.”

For over two decades, Kenny Inglis has composed original scores for BBC, Channel 4, and ITV, with standout work on Dictator: The Hitler Interviews, Murder Trial, Long Lost Family, and Jane Austen: Rise of a Genius. His music has also featured in Six Feet Under (HBO), CSI (CBS), and in trailers for Gangster Squad and Dead Man Down .

Through Hearing With My Eyes, Inglis explores how sound and image have always been intertwined in his creative life. Music becomes visual; photography becomes musical. Both are driven by instinct, emotion, and atmosphere.

The exhibition presents a series of introspective, cinematic photographs — visual compositions that mirror the emotional cadence of his compositions. These images live in the same liminal space as his music: between silence and sound, between presence and memory.
