An Afternoon of Mindfulness- an opportunity to pause, breathe and bring some stillness to your day while gently exploring some of the main aspects of the tradition.
Please join us for the whole series of four sessions or can be attended as stand-alone events. All retreats will include meditation practice, teaching and mindful enquiry on each theme as well as periods of silence.
Suited to those with some experience of Mindfulness meditation however all are welcome to attend.
Retreat 1: Saturday 2nd November, 2-5pm
Awareness- this theme is central to the practice. It involves paying attention to the present moment with an open, non-judgmental attitude. In mindfulness, awareness is about observing thoughts, feelings, and sensations as they arise, without trying to change or control them.
This afternoon retreat will help participants explore awareness in this way and develop inner experiences from physical sensations in the body to emotional reactions and mental patterns.
Retreat 2: Saturday 7th December, 2-5pm
Patience- this theme encourages us to allow things to unfold in their own time, without rushing or forcing outcomes. In mindfulness, patience means accepting the present moment as it is, recognizing that everything has its natural pace—whether it’s the breath, thoughts, or emotions.
By exploring patience in this retreat, we can develop a deeper sense of peace, allowing ourselves to fully engage with each moment, no matter how it may feel.
Retreat 3: Saturday 11th January, 2-5pm
Acceptance- this theme allows us to embrace the present moment exactly as it is, without resistance or judgment. It means acknowledging thoughts, feelings, sensations, and experiences as they arise, even if they are uncomfortable or unpleasant, and allowing them to be there without trying to change or control them.
This afternoon will offer the opportunity to observe life as it unfolds, understanding that we cannot always change external circumstances, but we can change how we respond to them.
Retreat 4: Saturday 1st February, 2-5pm
Compassion- during this afternoon retreat, we will explore what compassion is and how we can cultivate it to help us understand that struggles, and imperfections are part of the human experience, and we can respond to them with warmth, care, and non-judgment.
