Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity Calls on Buchanan Galleries Visitors Ahead of Annual Sponsored Walk

27 August @ 10:00 am - 28 August @ 5:00 pm

Free

Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity will be visiting Buchanan Galleries in celebration of its 20th anniversary and hosting a promotional weekend on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th August.

Visitors to the centre will be able to find out more about the charity and its work supporting brave young patients at Scotland’s busiest Children’s Hospital, along with the charity’s annual Sponsored Walk & Fun Day, which raises much needed funds for the cause. Visitors will have the opportunity to sign up and take part in the popular annual event free of charge.

The Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity Sponsored Walk & Fun Day has been an important date in the fundraising calendar since the charity began in 2001. Following a three-year absence, the family-friendly walk returns to celebrate the charity’s 20th anniversary. Taking place on 4th September from 10am – 4pm, guests can take part in a 3K or 10K route around the West End of Glasgow.

The walk has attracted thousands of participants and offers the opportunity to take in Glasgow’s idyllic surroundings whilst raising money for a good cause. The walk is intended for people of all ages and abilities, with participants able to raise money through sponsorship for Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

After crossing the finish line, visitors can enjoy live entertainment from performers, soak up the atmosphere and show off their medal in family photos, all while helping raise funds with child-friendly fundraising games and activities.

William McGowan, Head of Partnerships & Events at Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “Our annual Sponsored Walk & Fun Day is quickly approaching, and given the charity has reached a key milestone, we’re keen to make this year the best yet! We’re looking forward to hosting our promotional weekend at Buchanan Galleries and allow visitors to register for the event. It’s thanks to the people of Glasgow that, 20 years on, we’re still there for every family when the lights go down each day after another difficult day in hospital. We can’t wait to celebrate this special milestone together.”

Kathy Murdoch, Centre Manager for Buchanan Galleries, said: “We’re proud to continue to support Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity and provide a platform for the charity to promote their fundraising events within the centre. The event offers visitors a fantastic opportunity to find out more about our charity partner and the admirable work they do for the children of Glasgow, as well as sign up to their Sponsored Walk in celebration of their 20th anniversary.”

Participants can register for the Sponsored Walk & Family Fun Day at Buchanan Galleries on Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th August. For more information, visit: https://buchanangalleries.co.uk/
