Set in Hull in the late 1850s the mystery series is based on the novel ‘The North Water’ by Ian McGuire.
The Scottish actor is set to appear alongside Colin Farrell’s character “Henry Drax” and Stephen Graham’s character “Captain Brownlee”.
Production began in November with scenes being filmed in locations in the Arctic and Budapest.
However, due to the coronavirus pandemic filming was stalled in March.
The trailer for the series was released earlier this month.
