The Scottish Live Music Awards (SLMA) celebrated the best of Scotland’s vibrant live music scene on Thursday night (5th March) during a prestigious ceremony at Glasgow’s Oran Mor Auditorium.

A packed audience enjoyed performances from some of the country’s most exciting up-and-coming artists, including Mark Sharp & the Bicycle Thieves, Kirsteen Harvey, Liv Dawn & Joe Goodall, as the winners were revealed.

Key winners on the night were The Proclaimers, awarded the Legend Award, Callum Beattie – Best Live Artist, Brogeal – Best Folk/ Alternative – and Dead Pony, who claimed Rock & Metal Live Artist of the Year. Glasgow’s iconic Barrowland Ballroom also took home the title of Best Venue for the second year running.

Barbara Spackman – Co-founder of Tickets Scotland – Who passed away last November after a short illness – was awarded Industry Legend, with her colleagues accepting the award on her behalf.

Ross Coutts, from Xfire.Live, the company behind the awards, said:
“We have such a strong music scene in Scotland and it was incredible to celebrate that talent at our second Scottish Live Music Awards. These artists, bands, venues, festivals and individuals are the heartbeat of the Scottish live music scene and it was great to see so many in attendance. A huge congratulations to all the winners!

Calum Bowie, Best Indie & Alternative Artist, said: “It’s such an honour to win this and to be amongst so many incredible artists. Playing shows is the whole reason I play music and last year in particular with headlining Barrowlands was incredible”

Loki, Best Hiphop/ Rap said: “I just want to give a shout out to the other nominees. It’s a great accolade for me, 20 years in, to get a nod like this, particularly given the strength and quality of everyone else in the category”

The evening marked the conclusion of the SLMA season, which received over 150,000 nominations & public votes, before finalists were judged by a 40-strong panel of experts from across the industry.
